Freddie Mercury (5th September 1946 - 24th November 1991) was a hugely successful British singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as the original frontman and lead singer of the rock band Queen. His wide vocal range and flamboyant stage presence made Freddie a truly unique performer. He wrote many chart-topping hits for Queen including 'Killer Queen', 'Don't Stop Me Now' and 'We Are The Champions'. However, none of these were as commercially successful as the song 'Bohemian Rhapsody', which is Queen's most famous song and is considered to be one of the most innovative pieces of music ever created by a rock band. In 2001, Mercury was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Queen.
