Queen are a British rock band that formed in London in 1970. Their best-known line-up was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (lead guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and John Deacon (bass guitar). During their heyday, Queen was one of the best-selling bands in the world. Another One Bites the Dust (1980) became their best-selling single, while their 1981 Greatest Hits compilation album is still the best-selling album in the UK and is certified eight times platinum in the USA.
Estimates of their record sales range from 150 million to 300 million records. Queen received the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award from the British Phonographic Industry in 1990. A three-piece white paper suit which has been signed by all four members of Queen along with the group’s manager Paul Prenter and the head of the Queen Fan Club, Jacky Smith. The suit was worn during the filming of Queen’s music video for the single ‘Radio Ga Ga’. It comprises a pair of trousers, a long-sleeved top and a balaclava and was worn by one of 400 Queen fans at the video recording which took place at Shepperton Studios, Middlesex, England on the 24th November 1983.
